The Tyler Ride is a motorcycle poker run that helps raise money for the Tyler Fund. The Tyler Fund was set up to help with the purchases of specialized equipment that I am going to need in the very near future. The insurance doesn't cover everything. I am a 16 year old boy who was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy when I was 4 years old. What is Duchenne you ask? In Duchenne, my muscle cells don't have any glue (Dystrophin) to hold them together. So my muscle cells die and then I can't move anymore. The glue is gone because something is wrong with what they call my X-chromosome. They call it a gene and it happens mostly to boys. In the beginning I could walk and stairs were just hard. I fell a lot though. But, by the time I turn 9 or 12, I won't be able walk anymore and have to stay in a wheelchair. I am at that stage now. By the time I get to be a teenager, even my arms will stop working and I will need help for just about everything. It will even get harder for me to breathe because those muscles get tired too. I will get sick a lot.. I might even have to say goodbye to my family and friends before I turn 20. If you would like to make a donation for the Tyler Fund, you can forward a check made out to the Tyler Fund and mail it to: Northern Bank & Trust 45 Main Street Westford, Ma 01886 If you have any questions or would like more information on anything above you may email my mom at janet@tylerride.com
